DURING
It took us a full month alone to hand-scrap and hand-paint the exterior. We were both still working our other full-time jobs at the time so we accomplished this project after work and on weekends. The interior took an additional 2-months and about $10k more than we were expecting.

Day 1 of hand-scrapping

Front of the house

Boom lift for the WIN

We hand-brushed 2 coats of oil-based primer

The neighborhood was very worried this was the color we chose. We had several lookie-lous come talk to us.

Then the color was revealed: Ray Del Sol

Sara enjoying the ease of boom-life

The Inspector arrived: we passed!

Tom on day 1 bathroom demo

Old Lathe

We like to leave time-capsules for future renovators

Demo complete and reconstruction begins

Backerboard going up

Waterproofing begins

Waterproofing complete and tile going up.

Tile almost complete.

Color picked and coat one complete

Tile is done!

Fixtures going in.

Took 2 full days to hand peel the old flooring up

Cabinet deconstruction begins

Took out uppers as this space was not needed for a STR and it opened up the kitchen making it feel larger

Sara questioning the process

Looking better

Relocating the fridge. Again because this was a STR we only needed a mid-size fridge and re-did the layout to make the kitchen feel more spacious.

Reconstruction

Painting. SO MUCH painting!

Completed

Sara feeling worn out 2-month in. Gus trying to lift her spirits

Hours and hours and hours of hands craping, sanding, and restoring old doors. The front door turned out GREAT! Guests loved it!

More doors being restored. These were to the interior sunroom.

Over-grouted the old brick fireplace for a more trendy look.

Every wall, ceiling, & all trim got new paint.

paint, paint, paint

Even the basement walkout got an overhaul.

Finally seeing the outcome of all our hard work!
